Privacy policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
This policy explains how Technous Ltd ("Technous", "we", "us") handles personal data when you visit technous.dev, when you write to us, and when you work with us on a client project. Technous Ltd is the controller of this data, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for it.
Our apps have their own privacy policies
We make Nimble, Skye and Tact. Each app has its own privacy policy that explains what the app collects and how it uses AI. When you use an app, that app's policy applies:
- Nimble: nimbleapp.co/privacy-policy
- Skye: skyeapp.co/privacy-policy
- Tact: tactapp.co/privacy
This policy covers the website, emails you send us (including support requests about our apps) and our client work.

1. What we collect
When you visit technous.dev
We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our host, GitHub Pages, processes technical data such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you request, so that it can deliver the site and keep it secure. Our fonts and images come from our own site, so your browser does not contact other companies. Your browser saves your theme and language choice on your device. This choice stays on your device and does not reach us.
When you write to us
The contact form opens your own email app with a prepared message. Nothing is sent until you send that email. We receive what you put in it: your name, email address, the topic, your message and, for business topics, your company name. Support requests can also include details about your device and about what happened in an app.
When you work with us on a client project
We collect the contact and billing details of the people we work with (name, job title, company, email address, phone number and invoice details), the project requirements, and the material you share with us for the project.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for sensitive data, such as health information or religious beliefs, through the website or by email. Please do not include it in your messages. We do not buy personal data, and we do not collect data about you from other companies.
2. How we use it, and our legal bases
Under UK and EU data protection law (the GDPR), we need a legal basis for each use of your data:
| What we do | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Answer your questions and give support for our apps | Our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us. For app users, also our contract with you under the app's terms. |
| Plan and deliver client projects, and send invoices | Contract |
| Keep business and accounting records | Legal obligation |
| Run the website and keep it secure | Legitimate interest |
We do not sell personal data. We do not make decisions about you that are based only on automated processing and that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. AI providers
Our apps use AI. When you use an AI feature, the app sends your request to an AI provider that processes it for us. A request can contain your chat messages and some other details that the app needs to generate and personalise the answer, such as preferences and profile details that you gave the app. We currently use:
- OpenAI, for text features in Tact and Skye
- xAI, for text features in Nimble and Skye
- ElevenLabs, for the voices in Nimble
These providers process the data for us as our service providers (processors), under their terms for business customers. Each app's privacy policy gives the details for that app.
We do not use AI to make decisions about the people who write to us. In client projects we can use AI tools, for example coding assistants, on project material. The project agreement sets out what is allowed.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers that work for us, and only as much as they need:
- GitHub, which hosts this website
- Namecheap (Private Email), which hosts our email at hello@technous.dev
- The AI providers listed in section 3, for the AI features of our apps
- Professional advisers, such as our accountants and lawyers, when they need the data to advise us
We also share data when the law requires it, for example with a court or a regulator. If Technous is ever sold or merged, personal data can move to the new owner, who must protect it as this policy describes. We do not share personal data with advertisers.
5. International transfers
GitHub, Namecheap, OpenAI, xAI and ElevenLabs can process data in the United States. When personal data leaves the UK, we use the protections that UK law requires: a UK adequacy decision, including the UK–US data bridge where the provider is certified, or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum approved by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can ask us for details of these protections.
6. How long we keep it
- Contact and support emails: we delete them 2 years after the last message in the conversation.
- Client project records, contracts and invoices: we keep them for 6 years after the project ends, because UK tax and contract law expect this.
- Website logs: GitHub keeps them for a limited time under its own policies.
- App data: each app's privacy policy sets out how long that app keeps your data.
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access only for the people who need the data. No system is completely secure. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
8. Children
technous.dev is not meant for children under 13. If we find that a child under 13 has sent us personal data, we delete it. Each app sets out its own age limits in its own policy.
9. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can:
- ask for a copy of your personal data
- ask us to correct data that is wrong
- ask us to delete your data
- ask us to restrict or stop using your data, or object to how we use it
- ask for your data in a portable format
To use any of these rights, email hello@technous.dev. It is free, and we reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act.
If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in your country. We would like the chance to help first, so please write to us.
If you live in a US state with its own privacy law, you may have similar rights. We handle these requests in the same way. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Because we do not track you across websites, there is nothing to switch off with Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our services change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
